Workout Wrap-up

Workout Wrap-up

Overall, this week’s workouts were pretty good.  It was week 3 of Best Body Bootcamp and Tina changed up the workouts from last week.  The workouts this week had moves that were more familiar to be than the previous two weeks and they focused more on strength training with weights.  I liked the combination of moves that she put together for each workout.

  • Monday – Bootcamp Workout A
  • Tuesday – 3 mile run
  • Wednesday – Bootcamp Workout B
  • Thursday – 3 mile run
  • Friday – Rest Day
  • Saturday – Bootcamp Workout C
  • Sunday – 6 mile run

My runs this week were pretty good too!  Tuesday’s run was done at a local park and I challenged myself to pick up the pace a little bit and I managed to complete 3 miles with an average pace of 9:36 – that is really fast for me!!

Thursday I opted to do some running on the high school track right next to our neighborhood.  I banged out another 3 miles with an average pace of 9:57.  It was a little slower than Tuesday and I can 100% attribute that to a tight calf and a sore ankle.

My calf and ankle were pretty sore on Friday and Saturday so I opted to move my run from Saturday to Sunday.  I iced my ankle on Saturday in hopes that I would be able to run on Sunday.  I woke up this morning with a little tightness but nothing some Ibuprofen couldn’t fix.

I set out to run down by the Susquehanna River this morning in ideal conditions,  it was overcast and just the right temperature (about 50*).  I started my run planning on running just 5 miles.  Once I got through the first mile, I fell into an easy pace and felt like my legs could go forever.  As I approached the 5 mile mark I just couldn’t let myself stop…I kept going and pushed myself to do 6!!  Even after 6 miles I felt like I could keep going but I knew the smart thing would be to stop.  The last thing I want to do is push myself too hard and risk injury before my 10k race

The workout plan for this week:

  • Monday – Bootcamp Workout A
  • Tuesday – 3 mile run
  • Wednesday – Bootcamp Workout B
  • Thursday – 3 mile run
  • Friday – Rest Day
  • Saturday – 6 mile run
  • Sunday – Bootcamp Workout C

Question:  How did your workouts go this week?

Wo hoo! Sounds like you’re becoming quite the long distance runner! I absolutely love those kinds of runs.

great job on the runs missy!! Especially pushing yourself to be quicker…

I cannot wait to get on the road again…In fact driving home from the gym tonight I almost convinced myself to go for a run tomorrow morning BUT it’s below zero when I wake up…A tad too nipple-y for me ;)

My workout week is going well…So far I’ve had a 4 mile dvd workout, a zumba workout and a yoga workout.

I love that feeling, when your legs just want to keep going and going. Yay! Best wishes on the race coming up!
