Couch to 5k Review

I’m done!!  Today was my last run of the Couch to 5k program!  I completed the entire program and feel completely prepared for my 5k race next weekend.  Eek, my race is next weekend – I can’t believe it’s here already.

I really enjoyed the C25k program because I’m the type of person that strives on a structured plan of workouts.  When I know exactly what I am supposed to be doing each workout I tend to get a better workout.  My personality type craves structure and specific instruction.

The program allowed me to work at my own pace but still challenged me each run.  By keeping track of my distance and time for each of my runs I was able to see the progress I was making after each week of the program.

Following the C25k program provided me the tools I needed to train appropriately for my 5k race. I would definitely recommend this program to anyone that is interested in running and doesn’t know where to start.

If it wasn’t for the C25k program I don’t know that I would have been able to train myself appropriately enough to feel prepared to run the race next weekend.

Who knows, maybe I will try the bridge program to run a 10k race??  Let’s see how the 5k goes first : )

Question:  If you are a runner, do you follow a well-known training plan or do you make your own?

Well I would never classify myself as a runner, I do run…If that makes sense…I don’t follow a plan…I just try to add a km a week…I am running a half marathon in September so I am planning on hopefully reaching 22 or 23 km BEFORE my half so the half doesn’t seem like such a big deal BUT that’s not set in stone yet….

I just listen to my body and go with how I’m feeling…For instance today I was only planning on going 8K for felt a surge of energy and ended up going 10…Completely spontaneous!

I finished week 5 of the Couch to 5k program yesterday morning and I am impressed. I really couldn’t run at all when I started this, so it was a shock seeing I could run 20 min yesterday. Seeing someone else who has followed the program with success definitely motivates me to keep going till the end of the program!
