I’m not really a red meat lover. I don’t like steak at all and only like beef hamburgers when they are well done (on the verge of burnt). The one exception is London Broil…I absolutely love London Broil when prepared the way I prefer.
I love the London Broil my Dad makes, it’s marinated and grilled to perfection. Since our local grocery store was having a BOGO special (buy one get one free) on London Broil this week, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share the marinade recipe my Dad shared with me.
London Broil Marinade
- 1/2 c. dry wine
- 1/2 c. soy sauce (may use 1 c. soy sauce if no wine)
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. ginger
- 1/2 tsp. minced garlic
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
Whisk all ingredients together.
Place meat in a Ziploc bag and add marinade.
Seal bag and refrigerate meat at least 4 hours.
To cook the meat, preheat grill to medium heat. Remove the meat from the refrigerator while grill preheats to allow the meat to come to room temperature. Once grill is heated, add the meat and grill for 20-25 minutes, turning once.
The amount of cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the cut of meat and the preferred doneness. I like my meat well-done so I let the meat cook for a little longer than normal.
Pull the meat from the grill just before the desired doneness is reached. Allow meat to rest for a few minutes (like 5 – 10) prior to slicing.
We enjoyed this delicious London Broil for dinner tonight and there is enough leftover for a serving for lunch later in the week.
